This vehicle was developed by the trained graphic artist Gustav Adolf Baumm, set eleven new world records in the 50 cc and 100 cc class and brought the name Baumm to the international world record lists for the first time in 1954.
The hunt for world records continued in April 1955 and the list of world records was completed. NSU had now achieved its goal and claimed all solo world records.
Wilhelm Herz had already claimed the best performance in the 350 cc class and the absolute speed record for motorcycles back in 1951.
